Position Summary
This position will support the Senior Turbine Technician with repairing turbines and the building of production pumps keeping and ensuring precise measurements with accurate and detailed records.
Essential Functions
- Strictly adhere to all safety procedures.
- Support Senior Turbine Technician with assigned duties.
- Repair turbine shaft assemblies under direction of Senior Turbine Technician.
- Assist in overhauls, repairs and building production pumps including keeping accurate measurements during the build process.
- Proficient in using ID and OD micrometers, depth micrometers, dial indicators and calipers.
- Must be adle to operate a forklift, overhead cranes, and rig loads.
- Provide recommendations for improvements.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Must be able to travel extensively to other location, including rural areas to work on other projects.
Other Responsibilities
- Performs environmental and general housekeeping duties.
- Other duties and projects as assigned by management.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
- The ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the areas of assignment as would be acquired in three to four years of high school.
- Ability to methodically troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems.
- Must be able to qualify on equipment needed for job duties, including forklifts and overhead cranes.
- The ability to read technical documents such as piping and instrumentation diagrams, one-line diagrams, and design and analysis reports.
- Hands-on experience in maintenance in turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment.
- Familiarity with plant operations and maintenance activities.
- Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spread sheets, database, and presentation. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and use of the internet.
- Must have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to perform job duties safely and efficiently.
- Demonstrates excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple competing priorities as well as multiple projects simultaneously.
- Learn quickly and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the company.
- Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier.
Physical Requirements
- The ability to lift to 40 pounds in awkward positions and 75 pounds from the floor to the waist.
- Must be able to climb ladders, climb to and work off elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, heights exceeding 10 feet, and in harsh weather conditions.
- Must be able to wear protective equipment in the performance of some duties.
- Work is subject to exposure to hazardous chemicals, electrical currents, gases, dust, and noxious odors.
- Job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- The ability to work nonstandard working hours (early morning, late evening) if required, due to the different time zone with global operations.
