Position Summary
|
|
This position provides supervision and direction for a team responsible for managing chemical treatment applications and systems at the Electricity Segment power plants in accordance with approved chemical treatment programs. This position is responsible for coordination with plant management on budgeting and purchasing of water treatment chemicals, evaluating chemical vendors and products, and driving process improvements and optimization of chemical treatment applications.

Essential Functions
|
- Provides technical expertise regarding chemical treatment needs of the geothermal brine and cooling water systems for all Electricity Segment power plants as required.
|
- Ensures Chemical Process Technicians adequately operate and maintain chemical treatments systems and processes.
|
- Ensures team properly tracks and manages chemical inventory at all power plants
|
- Provides supervision and direction for the team including assigning projects and responsibilities in alignment with individual capabilities, responsibilities, and the needs of the power plants.
|
- Ensures personnel are adequately trained and cross-trained to continuously improve the team’s ability to support the Electricity Segment power plants in areas of chemical treatment of the geothermal brine and cooling water systems.
|
- Ensure optimal chemical treatment to balance plant reliability with acceptable scale formation and corrosion,
|
- Provide annual chemical treatment budgets to plant management.
|
- Ensures regular meetings and reports are completed with plant O&M supervision to ensure Technical Services and plant staff are aligned on chemical treatment needs and responsibilities.
|
- Participate in Human Resource matters including hiring, promotion, disciplinary action, and termination of personnel in coordination with Technical Services Director and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
|
- Strictly adhere to and enforce safety procedures as required by Ormat, CAPP, and OSHA.
|
- Must be able to physically access and travel to all areas of the plants.
|
- Safely operate, enter, and exit a vehicle and remain alert while driving to remote plant locations.
|
- Must be able to travel extensively (at least 25% of working time) to Power Plant locations, including rural areas to work on projects.
|

Education, Experience, and Skills Required
|
- A Bachelor 's of Science degree in chemistry, geochemistry, chemical engineering or related field.
|
- A minimum of three (3) years of chemical treatment experience in power generation, refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industry or related experience, including hands-on experience with cooling towers, heat exchangers, chemical treatment systems, and environmental equipment is preferred.
|
- Professional Engineering registration preferred.
|
- Previous supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
|
- A working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations related to chemical treatment is required.
|
- Versed in compiling, analyzing and checking chemical treatment documentation including chemical analysis reports, inventory reports, and scale and corrosion coupon results.
|
- Experienced in setting up chemical treatment programs to address a variety of power plant treatment needs.
|
- Must have a high degree of initiative, ability to work with minimal or no supervision and a high level of confidentiality.
|
- Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
|
- Must have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to perform the job duties safely and efficiently.

- Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT.
|

Physical Requirements
|
- Must be able to work in plant operating areas including exposure to noise, vibrations, heat and cold.
|
- Must be able to wear any required protective equipment required by safety procedures and regulations.
|
- Job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling.
|
- The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor and use repetitive motion for long periods of time.
