Plant Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for plant efficiency/performance monitoring and improvements, development and implementation of MM&CAPEX projects, revenue improvement/cost reduction/net operating income enhancement, site technical lead.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Monitor plant performance and efficiency; work independently and/or with internal personnel/groups to identify and achieve improvements.
- Take lead in MM&CAPEX activities including implementation of approved projects consistent with budget and schedule requirements.
- Provide day-to-day engineering for maintenance activities including review and specification of materials and equipment and liaison with corporate engineering functions.
- Monitor and identify/implement improvements to increase net operating income.
- Support and back-up Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator as appropriate.
- Support and review of Management of Change process.
- Must be able to travel extensively to other locations, including rural areas and other states, to work on other projects.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays (or one or the other) when necessary.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner, refuel vehicle and enter and exit vehicle without assistance, remain alert while driving for continuous period of time and read and understand maps.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Other duties and projects as assigned by management.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- A Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate engineering field is preferred, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial process or manufacturing facility. High level of competence and applicable experience is preferred.
- Knowledge in all of the engineering disciplines including process, civil, mechanical, electrical, and control.
- Self-starter with high degree of initiative and ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize and work quickly to meet all deadlines.
- Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation. Must be proficient in MS word, Excel, Power Point and use of the Internet, Knowledge of Microsoft Access is desirable.
- Must be able to communicate with other employees and read and write at a level that will enable to perform the work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and visually in a clear and effective manner including in noisy and low illumination environments.
- Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier.
- Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions and periodically lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to climb ladders, climb to and work off of elevated platforms, ladders and walkways.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and in harsh weather conditions.
- Job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties.
