Position Summary

The PMO Manager leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of the project management frameworks, systems, and standards that support the Resource Projects team and related departments. This position ensures consistent application of project controls, scheduling, cost management, reporting, and data integrity across all geothermal resource, drilling, and geoscience programs.

 

The PMO Manager oversees the PMO support team responsible for project controls, scheduling, cost tracking, logistics, and data/document management. Working closely with Project Managers and Program Managers, this role ensures that project information and reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with corporate requirements and objectives. The PMO Manager promotes best practices in project governance, drives standardization and continuous improvement, and fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and performance excellence across the department.

 

 

 

 

Essential Functions

  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized project management processes, procedures, templates, and reporting tools for the Resource Projects team.
  • Lead and manage the PMO support staff, including schedulers, cost controllers, project controllers, logistics coordinators, and data/document management personnel.
  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and professional development to build a high-performing, collaborative PMO team.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve systems for project controls, cost tracking, scheduling, and performance reporting.
  • Prepare and issue consistent, accurate, and timely reports, dashboards, and presentations on project performance, budgets, forecasts, progress, and risks for management review.
  • Ensure data and document management systems are accurate, complete, secure, and aligned with company standards and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct periodic project audits and compliance reviews to verify adherence to PMO standards, reporting accuracy, document control, and data integrity.
  • Write, update, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and work instructions related to project management controls, scheduling, reporting, data, and document management
  • Support PMO staff and Project Managers in maintaining and applying these standards across all Resource projects and programs.
  • Collaborate with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) teams to embed safety requirements and controls into PMO procedures and project workflows.
  • Ensure PMO systems and practices reinforce Ormat’s safety culture, including compliance and training in safety-related processes.
  • Support lifecycle management of geothermal prospects, ensuring consistent planning, execution, and closeout from acquisition through handover to construction.
  • Provide guidance and training to Project Managers and technical staff on PMO processes, project controls, and reporting standards.
  • Coordinate and align PMO activities with other departments, including IT, Business Development, and Finance, to ensure integration, consistency, and effective communication.
  • Champion a culture of diligence, safety, performance, and continuous improvement within the Resource Projects organization.
  • Involved in Human Resource matters including hiring, promotion, disciplinary action, and termination of personnel in coordination with local and corporate management and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

 

 

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting activities for Resource projects.
  • Represent the Resource Projects team in cross-functional initiatives, audits, and internal reviews. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and industry best practices, and apply them within the PMO framework.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by management.

 

 

 

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • PMP project management qualification required to either be already held, or a commitment to achieve certification.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in project management, project controls, or PMO leadership, preferably within the energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
  • Proven track record of building and managing PMO frameworks and systems.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of cultures is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and influence positively a diverse group of executives, managers, stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
  • Expert knowledge of creating business requirements, work plans, project schedules and associated project artifacts.
  • Professional-level capabilities with project management tools (e.g. PowerBI Jira, Primavera, and Microsoft Project or equivalents).
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. The ability to speak and write in multiple languages is preferred, specifically Spanish, French, Bahasa.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to Ormat’s auto insurance carrier.
  • Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time to international and domestic locations as needed per project and possibly with short notice.

 

 

 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in an office and operation/construction environments.
  • The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to wear a variety of protective equipment as required by safety procedures and regulations.
  • Must be able to work in severe weather conditions.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance.
