Position Summary

 

This position is a key leadership role responsible for the overall financial management, planning, analysis for the Electricity Segment. The Director of Finance acts as a strategic business partner to the Managing Director, providing critical insights to drive profitability, optimize costs, manage capital, and inform strategic decisions. The Director is accountable to lead a team of high performing finance professionals who partner with the business to translate strategy into measurable financial targets and then drive to exceed those targets together. The Director will ensure the team delivers exceptional work products in the form of timely, accurate and clear materials on which strong decisions and analysis can be based.

 

 

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the development of financial models, forecasts, and budgets to support the Electricity Segment's strategic objectives and long-range planning. Consolidate corporate accounting financial results with finance operations results.
  • P&L Management: Be accountable for the segment's financial performance, analyzing key drivers of revenue and costs, and providing regular, detailed reports to senior leadership.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with other leaders to assess the financial impact of operational decisions and capital projects, ensuring fiscal responsibility across all departments. Ensure that as an individual and as a team you are well connected across the Electricity Segment and across Ormat more broadly for the delivery of required results.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Prepare comprehensive financial reports, manage financial audits, and ensure all activities adhere to internal controls and corporate accounting standards.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, implementing new technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • People Development: Manage the performance and development of each member of your team to drive the performance and culture that is required. Ensure you have identified and are developing the next generation of leadership talent within your tea
  • Organizational Leadership: Establish an organization wide level of leadership influence, foster a reputation as one of the key leaders and culture champions within Ormat.  Engage in the development of overall electricity Segment strategy and work collaboratively with your peer group to exceed the performance goals for the organization as a whole.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

 

  • Experience: At least 10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role. Experience in the energy sector is preferred.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required. A Master's degree or professional certification (CPA, CFA) is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a finance environmental utilizing SAP.
  • Skills: Expertise in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data clearly to a non-financial audience.

 

 

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • This role primarily involves office-based work, but it may require occasional travel and site visits. The ideal candidate must be prepared to handle the physical and environmental demands associated with both corporate and operational settings.
  • Office & Computer Work: The ability to work for extended periods at a computer, using repetitive motions and remaining in a stationary position.
  • Travel: The flexibility to travel to various company sites and other business locations. This may include safely operating a motor vehicle or navigating public transportation and airports.
  • Site Visit Readiness: The capability to conduct site visits that may require walking on uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and standing for periods of time.
  • Safety Awareness: The ability to wear required protective equipment, such as a hard hat or safety glasses, in compliance with site-specific regulations.
