Position Summary

The Storage Operations Analyst is responsible for producing various analysis and reports, preparing and submitting purchase order requests, development and support for the budget process within Operations, and to develop a deep understanding of the revenue and costs of operating battery storage assets within various ISO’s across the nation. Additional responsibilities include preparing monthly and annual reports for internal stakeholders and external parties.

 

Essential Functions

  • Support the annual budget process and tracking within Operations throughout the operating year.
  • Maintain the annual budget spreadsheets for each operating facility, including, but not limited to gathering data from relevant teams and preparing monthly budget variance reports for each group within Operations.
  • Analyze large amounts of technical and market data and prepare reports for various teams.
  • Build and maintain systems and processes that can translate complex & voluminous energy data into usable business intelligence.
  • Work with other members of the Operations Team independently on a range of complex administrative and analytical projects and tasks.
  • Support the purchase order process within Operations and interface with Procurement/Finance.
  • Communicate effectively on issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure documentation for processes is current and complete.
  • In coordination with the Data Analytics, Asset Management, Market Operations and Operations & Maintenance, monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators used to gauge the operational performance of each operating asset.
  • Track and report asset performance with respect to variance in forecasted revenues, financial hedge exposure, and various 3rd party contractual obligations.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in related business, applied mathematics, finance or accounting fields, OR 1-3 years of related technical experience in similar field. The ideal candidate will have experience in fields such as finance, electric, communication, gas utilities or independent power producer.
  • Energy industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand engineering design drawings, vendor equipment drawings and technical information
  • Programming with Excel and spreadsheet capabilities
  • Strong computer literacy in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and various other programs
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

 

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor for long periods of time and stay alert.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and effectively communicate information to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
  • Must be able to exercise independent discretion and judgment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to Ormat’s auto insurance carrier.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.
