POSITION SUMMARY
ORMAT Energy Storage designs, builds, and implements innovative hardware and software energy management solutions for revenue generating energy storage assets, contributing to power utility stability with our gride-scale energy storage systems.
As a Software Engineering Leader at Ormat, you will craft a long-term technology vision, deliver high quality software, help your team members to grow, and help create a secure, scalable, and stable Energy Storage technology platform.
You will actively partner with Project Managers, Operations, Engineering, and other stakeholders to create and prioritize the product roadmap and to help refine and enhance the business strategy. You should share our passions for fostering team culture, growing a rich, vibrant business, and managing the career development and satisfaction of your team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Define and drive your team’s technology vision and roadmap.
- Mentor individual contributors and managers and provide feedback on software platform / architecture designs and implementation of new products and features.
- Maintain a team-focused culture and foster cross-team collaboration.
- Collaborate with PMs, Engineering, and other stakeholders to scale up our business, ensuring that our products provide the technical best path for success.
- Prepare activity and progress reports for development activities and provides status reports to senior and executive management as required or needed
- Maintain and promote Agile Methodologies inside and outside of the Technology team.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support for special projects and other duties as needed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- 8 years of experience in building scalable enterprise software
- 5 years of experience in managing software development with a strong track record of on-time delivery for medium to large, cross-functional projects.
- Experience hiring and developing strong, collaborative teams.
- Deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, distributed system architecture, and can demonstrate significant prior success as a software engineer who solved complex problems.
- Deep understanding of best engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code review, source control, build, test, deploy, and operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
- Ability to rapidly adapt to changing business needs and requirements in a dynamic market
- Working knowledge and experience with US power grid, utilities and markets a major plus
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and communicate information to safely and efficiently perform job duties
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work in an office environment.
- This job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping and kneeling
- The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor for long periods of time and stay alert
- Must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds without assistance
